A Special Wish Foundation
Operating Support and Community Awareness Campaign
One Special Wish family expressed thanks by saying, "A Special Wish Foundation deserves thanks and recognition for making such beautiful memories possible for families throughout our region. We will always be grateful for the gift of a few precious days in a magical place with our child—and we know that, in years to come, other families enduring the stresses of caring for seriously ill children will also appreciate the same opportunity we were afforded."
For nearly 25 years, A Special Wish Foundation has worked to make dreams come true for children in the Dayton area with life-threatening medical conditions. Since 1983, the organization has granted the wishes of more than 1,000 children and adolescents across six counties.
Whether a child's heartfelt hope is to meet Tiger Woods or Tony Hawk, to visit Disney World or see the ocean for the first time, or simply to have a puppy or kitten to love, the foundation's mission is to grant these final wishes.
Providing unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for so many children and their families requires both funding and a great deal of preparation. For several years, grants from the Mathile Family Foundation have provided general operating support, and the foundation has also contributed to a multi-year community awareness campaign.
