Project CHATTER
Greater Dayton Area Health Information Network
For thousands of families in our area who are uninsured or underinsured, access to specialized services can be limited, if not impossible. In Montgomery County alone, 85% of insurance companies do not cover recommended speech therapy for young children, even to help address developmental delays in communication.
The mission of Project CHATTER is to offer financial assistance for low- to middle-income families to cover the cost of recommended speech therapy services. Project CHATTER also conducts community awareness and education campaigns to highlight the importance of speech therapy for children in need. In recent years, the organization has helped local families to more closely evaluate available health benefit packages and has pressed both insurance companies and large corporations to add pediatric speech therapy to family policies and employee benefit packages.
Operating under the Greater Dayton Area Health Information Network, a nonprofit subsidiary of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA), Project CHATTER is entirely funded by grants from the Mathile Family Foundation, other organizations, and private donations.
