ParentLink-Nurturing Young Parents Program (PL-NYP)
Keeping babies safe, children well-nurtured, families whole, and the poor encouraged toward self-sufficiency, that's what Catholic Social Services does best.
Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley (CSSMV) provides a variety of programs reaching more than 25,000 community members throughout an eight-county service area. CSSMV targets individuals and families in need with services geared toward participants of all ages and backgrounds.
For example: ParentLink-Nurturing Young Parents Program (PL-NYP) program represents an innovative and ambitious attempt to help young, struggling parents to give their children a better chance to grow up healthy, happy, and prepared for success in school and later life. PL-NYP unites young parents with specially trained coaches for weekly one-on-one guidance, life skills training, and parenting education over the course of 18-24 months. Parents can then continue to receive referrals and attend monthly informational and support meetings until their children are three years old. The program also focuses on young fathers to encourage financial and personal support of the mother and child. Finally, it seeks to measure success in specific ways, including evaluating relationship skills, self-sufficiency, and quality parenting.
The Mathile Family Foundation is pleased to provide program support to PL-NYP during its initial three-year pilot phase as the program serves up to 150 young mothers, 50 young fathers, and their children.
